What are insight tiles in ASK BOSCO®?
Insight tiles are built for the part of your reporting that a metric or visualization can’t do: tell you what any of it means. By adding an insight tile into any of your dashboards, it will read your live data, then write the takeaway in plain words. Every time you load the dashboard the commentary updates, so it’s always up to date with your latest performance.
How to add an insight tile into your ASK BOSCO® dashboard
Open AI Studio (the feature in ASK BOSCO® that builds dashboards for you just by asking) and either create a dashboard or edit an existing one. Then either:
- Click Add in the top navigation and choose Insight tile. The AI Studio sidebar opens with a prompt already filled in, ready to edit or submit as-is.
- Or just ask for an insight tile in the AI Studio sidebar.
AI Studio checks which content or tabs you want covered, then builds the tile.
What you can do with insight tiles
- Customize it however you want. Name the metrics it should look at. Set the time period. Tell it who it’s writing for, so a tile on a board report reads differently from one on a channel dashboard. Or skip all that and give it a free-form prompt. The more specific you are, the more tailored the output.
- Choose how much it says. The format follows your instructions. One headline sentence, a structured multi-point breakdown, or anything between.
- Always current. Tiles refresh on every dashboard load, running against live data. Nothing to update by hand when the numbers move.
- Use more than one. Add a tile per section or per tab, so each part of the dashboard gets its own commentary instead of one tile summarizing everything.
- Edit by clicking. Click Edit on a tile and it’s already selected in AI Studio. No need to describe which one you mean — just say what you want changed.
- See the working. Click a tile and choose View plan for the data sources and metrics behind it.

How can I make use of insight tiles?
- Ecommerce and marketing teams. Get straight to what your numbers mean and view an instant interpretation of your numbers. This is especially helpful to ensure multiple stakeholders don’t have to draw their own conclusions. A summary tile at the top of your dashboard sets the context before the detail
- C-level and senior stakeholders. For people with little time, it’s a chance to get straight to the headline, without reading charts or asking someone for a written briefing.
- Agency account teams. Agency account teams can see at a glance how their clients are performing and copy written narrative straight onto client dashboards, instead of a narrative summary typed up by hand every reporting cycle. Set a tile to flag specific conditions, like any channel where ROAS drops below your threshold.
Tip: the output is only as good as the instruction behind it. “Tell me something interesting” gets you something generic. A useful pattern is to say what to look at, what counts as notable, and how to say it — look at ROAS by channel week on week, flag anything down more than 15%, and keep it to two sentences.

- Do insight tiles update automatically? Yes. They refresh on every dashboard load, running against the current data.
- Why do insight tiles take longer to load than other tiles? Because they’re doing more. A chart pulls a number; an insight tile runs your instructions against live data and writes a fresh answer every time. That takes a moment, so a tile may populate a beat after the rest of the dashboard. If you’re presenting or screen-sharing, open the dashboard a minute beforehand and let the tiles settle.
- Can an insight tile include a chart or table? No. Insight tiles produce text. Use them alongside your charts and KPI tiles, not in place of them.
- How many can I add to one dashboard? As many as you need. One per section or per tab works well.
- Can I see how an insight came about? Yes. Click the tile and select View plan.
