The Remarkable Commerce 2025 Digital Retail Index Is Here – Now With ASK BOSCO® Index Scores
The new Digital Retail Index (DRI) from Remarkable Commerce for 2025 has just been released – and this year, there’s a big new addition. For the first time, the report includes scores from ASK BOSCO®, which shows how well retailers are doing across key digital marketing channels including SEO and paid search.
If you’re running an ecommerce site or managing digital campaigns, this report is a great way to see how your brand stacks up against the competition.
What Is the Remarkable Commerce Digital Retail Index (DRI)?
The DRI is a yearly report created by Remarkable Commerce. It scores hundreds of UK online retailers based on how well their websites perform technically. Each retailer is rated on:
- Performance: Looks at how fast your site loads, including key speed metrics like Largest Contentful Paint and layout stability.
- Best Practices: Checks that your site follows common UK standards, like being secure, using up-to-date tech, and offering a good user experience.
- Accessibility: Makes sure your site can be used by everyone, including people with disabilities.
- SEO structure: Reviews how well your site is set up for search engines – including things like page structure, tags, and content.
- PWA: Checks if your site has Progressive Web App (PWA) features like offline support and mobile-friendly design.
These areas are tested using Google’s Lighthouse tool, and each site gets a score out of 500.
What’s New This Year? ASK BOSCO® Index
This year, the DRI also includes the ASK BOSCO® Index – our proprietary scoring system that looks at how well each retailer is doing in relation to their digital marketing. The ASK BOSCO® index pulls in data from reputable third-party sources and scores brands based on their performance in 4 key areas: :
-
Paid Search – Are your Google and Bing ads bringing in good traffic at the right cost?
-
SEO – How well does your site rank in search results, and is it bringing in useful traffic?
-
Other Digital Channels – Are people coming to your site from email, social, or referral links?
-
Website Health – A check of your site’s speed, usability, and setup.
Each brand gets a total score out of 1000, giving a much clearer view of overall performance. A score over 600 means you’re doing well. If it’s under 400, there’s work to do.
Why It Matters
Until now, the DRI focused just on technical performance. Adding the ASK BOSCO® Index means retailers can now also see how their marketing efforts are working. It’s not just about whether your site is fast – it’s also about whether your paid ads and SEO are bringing in the right traffic and value.
Who are the top performers in this year’s Remarkable Commerce DRI 2025?
Let’s break down what the top 10 in the DRI report are doing well:
1. Warren James
With the highest DRI score (460), Warren James is a top performer across the board. It combines fast loading times (Speed Score: 2904), high SEO standards, and near-perfect accessibility. Their strong ASK BOSCO® Index score (535) shows they’re not just technically sound but also effective in digital marketing performance.
2. Victoria Plum
Victoria Plum leads on PWA readiness (100) and SEO (99), meaning their site works brilliantly on mobile and is easy for search engines to understand. A strong overall digital experience with great attention to modern tech and user experience.
3. Walls and Floors
A quiet achiever with near-perfect SEO (99) and best practice (100) scores. Their accessibility (90) is slightly behind others, but they still prove that strong site structure and SEO really matter in rankings.
4. Jack & Jones
Jack & Jones shows strong balance across the board — high on SEO (91) and accessibility (100). Their slightly slower speed may hold them back (Speed Score: 4982), but everything else is solid.
5. Weldricks Pharmacy
Their technical and SEO game is top-notch — perfect scores for SEO, best practice, and accessibility. Despite a lower PWA score (60), their ultra-fast site speed (1911) gives users a smooth experience.
6. Watchfinder & Co.
One of the highest ASK BOSCO® Index scores (567) shows they’re excelling from a marketing performance perspective. Great mobile experience (PWA: 100) and impressive SEO (99) — though there’s room for improvement on best practices (83).
7. Vape Club
Vape Club has perfect SEO (100) and a strong ASK BOSCO® Index score (541), indicating solid digital marketing. They could benefit from improving their PWA and best practice scores, but they’re still a strong all-rounder.
8. Golf Online
Golf Online ranks high in SEO and best practices (both 92), showing strong foundations. With a Speed Index of 3698, they’re not the fastest — but they’re consistent in key technical areas.
9. Vivienne Westwood
A fashion brand in the top 10 — and for good reason. They’re technically well-structured (SEO 100) and follow best practices, though they’re a little behind on accessibility and speed. Their digital strength could do with a little boosting with an ASK BOSCO® Index score of 423.
10. Mango
Despite the lowest PWA score (30) of the top 10, Mango still lands in the top 10 thanks to perfect scores in best practice, SEO, and accessibility. There’s some work to do on mobile performance, but their foundation is solid.
